Choosing a Skill

SkillCertify organizes technical competencies across 31 canonical domains. You can explore topics through two complementary directories:

  • Skills Directory (/skills/): Explore subject-matter hubs organized by primary domain (Cloud Computing, Frontend & Backend Web Architecture, Data Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity). Each hub highlights learning roadmaps, curriculum outlines, and corresponding assessment tracks.
  • Certifications Directory (/exam/): Browse all 44 published assessment blueprints filtered by difficulty tier (Foundational, Associate, Practitioner). Each listing outlines question volume, time limits, and competency domains tested.

If you are new to a domain, we recommend beginning with foundational tracks such as Git Version Control, Python Essentials, or Cloud Fundamentals before advancing to specialized architectural credentials.

Learning Curriculum & Practice Mode

SkillCertify provides comprehensive educational resources designed to prepare candidates for rigorous examinations. Understanding the distinction between study resources and official certifications ensures you approach your credential correctly:

Curriculum Lessons (77+ Lessons)

Structured, in-depth technical guides covering real-world architecture, industry syntax, edge cases, and design patterns. Lessons are self-paced, fully indexed, and open to all candidates without time constraints.

Important: Completing a lesson does not grant a certificate. Certificates are conferred strictly through passing an official assessment.

Practice & Diagnostic Review

Practice questions familiarize you with the assessment question structure, multi-choice answer formats, and technical depth. Practice attempts do not count toward official credential scoring or public records.

Use practice mode to test your speed and identify weak domain areas prior to beginning a timed official examination session.

Taking an Assessment & Integrity Rules

SkillCertify assessments are designed to objectively measure practical technical knowledge. All assessments operate under uniform procedural standards:

Question count, time limit, and passing score vary by certification and track. The exact requirements are shown before you begin the assessment.

Question Volume 25 to 30 questions Configured per certification specification
Time Limit 30 to 45 minutes Server-enforced synchronized timer
Question Pool Audited Item Bank Randomized question snapshot per attempt session
Passing Standard 75% to 85% 75% foundational/associate, 80% professional, 85% expert

Assessment Session Rules

  • Continuous Server Timer: The assessment timer runs continuously once launched. Closing your browser tab or refreshing will not pause the timer.
  • Answer Auto-Save: Your selected answers are saved in real-time as you make each selection. If your connection briefly drops, your progress remains intact when you reload.
  • Candidate Integrity: Assessments are closed-book evaluations intended to measure individual problem-solving proficiency. Candidates must not use external assistance, automated answer scraping, or unauthorized tools during the session.
  • Auto-Submission: When the countdown reaches 00:00, your exam will submit automatically and grade all responses recorded up to that moment.

Results, Scoring & Retake Policy

Upon completing an assessment, our server evaluates your submission deterministically in under one second. There is no subjective grading or delayed scoring queue.

Diagnostic Score Report

Your results screen displays:

  • Overall percentage score and pass/fail determination.
  • Exact count of correct answers versus total questions.
  • Total duration taken from start to completion.
  • Domain breakdown showing performance across tested topics, along with question review and explanations where provided.

Assessment Retake Policy

Where retakes are available, you can start a new assessment attempt from the relevant certification page. Previous attempts remain in your account history:

  • Subsequent attempts draw fresh randomized questions from the item pool.
  • We recommend reviewing the learning lessons in your lowest-scoring domain before starting a new attempt.
  • Previous attempt records remain preserved in your private candidate account history.

Certificates of Competency & Download Formats

When you pass an assessment, SkillCertify immediately confers an official Certificate of Competency. Credentials are fully digital, permanently archived, and tamper-resistant.

Unique Certificate ID

Every certificate carries a standardized credential identifier (e.g. SC-YYYY-...) linking directly to our public verification registry.

Public Verification Record

Each certificate has an official entry in our public registry so employers and institutions can independently verify authenticity.

High-Resolution QR Code

Scan with any standard smartphone camera to open the real-time public verification record on skillcertify.org.

Downloading & Printing Your Certificate

SkillCertify provides convenient methods for obtaining physical or digital copies:

  • Official PDF Download: Click "Download PDF" on your certificate page to receive a clean, printable A4 landscape PDF document suitable for electronic archiving, email attachments, and job applications.
  • Browser High-Resolution Print: Click "Print" to launch your browser’s print dialog with pre-configured landscape layout and background graphics enabled for framing.
  • Account Credential Access: Your earned certificates remain saved in your account dashboard. You can log into your account at any time to re-download your PDF or view the web certificate.

Certificate Verification & Sharing

Employers, recruiters, and educational institutions require frictionless proof of qualification. SkillCertify verification is completely open and requires zero login credentials.

How Verification Works

Any party holding a certificate ID can verify its status at:

Public Verification URL Format
https://skillcertify.org/verify/[CERTIFICATE-ID]

The verification registry provides definitive records of:

  • Candidate legal/display name as registered at examination time.
  • Exact certification title and competency track.
  • Conferment date and active validity status ("Active / Verified").
  • Unique Certificate ID matching the issued document.

Sharing Your Credentials

  • LinkedIn Sharing & Profile Add: You can share your credential link directly on LinkedIn or add the credential details (Certificate of Competency, SkillCertify, Issue Date, and Verification URL) to your LinkedIn Licenses & Certifications section.
  • Resume & Portfolio Links: Include the direct verification link in your resume header or project portfolio so hiring managers can validate your skills with a single click.
  • Social Media Postings: Share preview cards formatted with Open Graph metadata across professional networks.

Skill Passport & Account Management

Your SkillCertify presence combines a private candidate dashboard with an optional public showcase.

Public Skill Passport

Your Skill Passport is a consolidated public profile that displays all your earned SkillCertify credentials in one verified portfolio. Instead of sharing multiple certificate links, you can share a single URL with prospective employers.

You can manage your Skill Passport public visibility anytime in your Account Settings.

Candidate Name Snapshot Policy

The candidate name on an issued certificate is snapshot from your account profile (First Name, Last Name, or Display Name) at examination time. Because issued credentials reflect this permanent snapshot:

Always ensure your name is configured accurately in Account Settings BEFORE starting an assessment session.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Quick technical solutions for common candidate challenges during assessment sessions, PDF downloads, and account access.

Assessment Session Issues

  • Screen froze or connection dropped: Reload your browser immediately. Your selected answers are automatically synchronized via server telemetry. The session resumes where you left off with remaining time intact.
  • Timer reached 00:00 unexpectedly: The server evaluates all answers recorded up to expiration. If you did not pass, you can start a new attempt from the certification page when you are ready.
  • Recommended Browsers: Use modern evergreen desktop browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari). Disable aggressive ad-blockers or script-blocking extensions that may interfere with API calls.

Certificate & PDF Printing Issues

  • PDF download fails or opens blank: Ensure pop-up blockers are not preventing downloads. Alternatively, open your certificate page and use your browser’s native Print function (Ctrl+P / Cmd+P) and choose "Save as PDF".
  • Print output missing borders or colors: In your browser Print dialog, open "More Settings" and check the box labeled "Background graphics". Set layout to Landscape for perfect framing.
  • Wrong candidate name on certificate: Issued certificates permanently record the name at examination time. To request a name correction on an issued certificate, update your name in Account Settings and reach out via our contact desk with your Certificate ID.

Account Access & Verification

  • Forgot your account password: Click "Forgot Password" on the sign-in modal to receive a secure password reset link to your registered email address.
  • Verification shows "Not Found": Double-check your Certificate ID format (e.g. SC-2026-...). Credential IDs are case-sensitive and must include the "SC-" prefix and hyphens.
  • Missing verification link from email: Check your spam or junk folder. You do not need an email confirmation to view your credential; simply visit your Account Dashboard to access all earned certificates.

Common Candidate Questions

Everything you need to know about SkillCertify assessments, credentials, scoring, and policies.

Are SkillCertify certifications and assessments completely free?

SkillCertify learning resources, assessments, certificates of competency, and PDF downloads are available at no charge to individual candidates. There are no paywalls or required subscriptions to take assessments or obtain your certificate.

What is the official title of the earned credential?

Upon passing, you receive an official "Certificate of Competency" in your chosen skill discipline (e.g. "Certificate of Competency in JavaScript Associate"). The credential signifies that you have successfully met SkillCertify assessment requirements and demonstrated verified technical competency.

How many skills and certifications are available?

SkillCertify currently hosts 31 canonical technical skills across Cloud Computing, Web Architecture, Data Engineering, AI, and Cybersecurity, with 44 published examination blueprints ranging from foundational to practitioner levels. All tracks are supported by 77+ in-depth learning lessons.

How long is an assessment, and how many questions are included?

Question count, time limit, and passing score vary by certification and track. Assessments typically range from 25 to 30 questions with a time limit of 30 to 45 minutes. The exact requirements are shown before you begin the assessment.

What score is required to pass an assessment?

Passing thresholds depend on the certification track and level (typically 75% for foundational and associate tracks, 80% for professional tracks, and 85% for expert tracks). The exact passing score required is displayed on the certification page before you start.

What happens if I fail an assessment? Can I retake it?

Where retakes are available, you can start a new assessment attempt from the relevant certification page. Each attempt draws a randomized set of questions from the item bank to maintain testing standards. Previous attempts remain in your account history.

Does finishing a learning lesson earn me a certificate?

No. Lessons are educational resources provided to help you master technical concepts. Certificates of Competency are awarded solely upon passing an official timed assessment.

What does a SkillCertify Certificate ID look like?

Official Certificate IDs follow the standardized format SC-YYYY-... (for example, SC-2026-...). This unique identifier appears on your certificate, printed copy, official PDF, and public verification record.

Can employers verify my certificate without creating an account?

Yes. The SkillCertify verification system is completely open and public. Anyone holding your certificate ID or scanning the QR code can access the official verification page at /verify/{ID} without registering or logging in.

Where does the name on my certificate come from?

The name on your certificate is snapshot from your account profile (First Name and Last Name, or Display Name) at the time the certificate is issued. Please verify your profile name in Account Settings before starting an assessment.

What should I do if my certificate has a typo or wrong name?

Because issued certificates snapshot your profile name upon completion, changes in Account Settings do not automatically rewrite previously issued credentials. Update your name in Account Settings and submit a request via our contact desk with your Certificate ID for manual assistance.

Do SkillCertify certificates expire?

SkillCertify Certificates of Competency currently do not carry an expiration date. They record verified competency demonstrated on the examination date. As technologies evolve, candidates may take updated assessments to reflect current knowledge.

What is the Skill Passport (/u/username)?

Your Skill Passport is a public profile URL that showcases your earned SkillCertify certifications in a single portfolio. You can link to your passport on LinkedIn, GitHub, or your resume, and you can control its public visibility in your account settings.

How do I download or print my official certificate?

On your certificate page, use the "Download PDF" button to receive an official PDF file. You can also click "Print" to launch your browser’s high-resolution print dialog (ensure "Background graphics" is enabled).

I lost my certificate link or PDF. How do I recover it?

All earned credentials remain saved in your account. Log in and visit your Account Dashboard (/account/) under the Certificates section to view and re-download any earned certificate.

What happens if my internet connection drops during an assessment?

Your chosen answers are auto-saved in real time. If your connection drops, reload the page immediately to resume your attempt. Note that the countdown timer continues to run on the server while disconnected.

How is my personal data and exam history protected?

We respect candidate privacy. Assessment attempts and question-level review details are private to your account. Only earned credentials and verified certificate records are publicly accessible for verification.

Where can I read the full platform terms and privacy policy?

You can view our legal documentation anytime at our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. For specific inquiries, contact us directly via our contact desk.
